Hello Gamma, Delta and Epsilon Parents,There are many important things going on at EPCDS. Our school will be going on a field trip to "Grossology, The Impolite Science of the Human Body" at the Lynx Exibits, 300 W. San Antonio, El Paso Texas. For more information of this exhibit please visit http://www.lynxexhibits.com/upcoming_exhibits . If you wish to chaperone, please let me know. Also, Picture Day is coming! It will be on Thursday, September 25th, 2008. Order forms went home Thursday, 9/18 in the To-Go-Home folder. Finally, Zetas and Etas will host our first bake sale of this school year! Goodies will be available for purchase at the end of the day next Friday, September 26th. The next spelling quiz is Thursday, September 26th. The words to review at home are: GAMMA - hello, hi, yes, on, it, is, in, at, how, now, can, we, red, blue and she! Many of the words we are learning are rhyming words and have the same ending such as, 'how' and 'now'. Yesterday, the Gammas took turns writing the rhyming words: cake, bake, lake, rake, etc. which visually reinforced the word family /ake/. Good job, Gammas! Delta & Epsilon - operation, alone, belong, age, act, bottom, cent, desert, electric and fraction! Parents, please review these with our students to reinforce the seatwork we do daily in class. We've had another successful week. In Social Studies, we continued learning about 'Community' by brainstorming and discussing safety when crossing the street, obeying traffic lights, stop signs and in school zones. Each student was very creative by depicting the safety rules with their own colorful picture, posted just inside our room! Music class was added to our schedule. I'm looking forward to sharing many wonderful musical moments with your child as we explore different genres, learn about composers, styles of music, instruments, etc. Keep reading and have a wonderful weekend!
