profile El Paso Country Day School was founded in 1980 in response to the need in El Paso, Texas and the surrounding Southwestern region for a quality, college preparatory program for academically advanced students. EPCDS is a private, non-denominational, non-profit, independent school with a strong academic foundation that exceeds the standards of its accrediting agency, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. El Paso Country Day School’s education combines excellence in academics, hands-on experiential learning, individualized instruction, and the nurturance of a positive self-concept. The student body numbers approximately 200 college-bound youngsters. In 1992, after twelve years of focus on elementary and junior high school, EPCDS expanded its program through high school. The spring of 1997 experienced our first graduating class, with 100% of the students accepted into the college of their choice. Our Math Club has a tradition of academic excellence and has been honored as Texas State Champion on many occasions. The class of 2004 graduated with an average of eighteen college credit hours per student.
EPCDS is fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the same organization that reviews and accredits colleges and universities throughout the southern portion of the United states. All students are required to pass a rigorous qualifying entrance exam. High school level classes are purposely kept small to ensure each student is appropriately prepared for college. The entire student body of approximately 200 (PreK - High School) represents 26 different countries. The number of students receiving financial aid is approximately 35%.
